If you’ve ever watched the movie “The Founder” or done any digging on Maccy D’s Founder, Ray Croc, you’ll know that our buddy Ray was never in the business of selling burgers… 

In 1974 he was asked to speak to the MBA class at the University of Texas at Austin. As the story goes, Ray asked the students “What business am I in?” When everyone just laughed and no one replied he asked again “What business do you think I’m in?” The class laughed again but this time one student answered“Everyone in the world knows you’re in the hamburger business.” Ray Replied “That is what I thought you would say.” He paused, then continued  “Ladies and gentlemen, I’m not in the hamburger business. My business is real estate.”

Now, nearly 40 years on, many a smart business owner knows this tale – and understands the valuable lesson that it teaches Sure, Ray may have been selling burgers, but he knew that the real power in his business came from the land on which his franchises operate upon. 

Here at Millennium, we’re in the freight business. But we know that the real power of our business comes from the connections we make. That’s why I went to the Caribbean to attend the annual global conference of Sky Alliance (it was a work trip, not just a jolly), that’s why I go to the networks and that’s why we work so hard to build relationships with our partners and our customers all over the world. We’re in the business of relationships.
