Most people dream of striking gold… but i doubt many picture it in toilet form.

Yet, that’s exactly what some ambitious thieves set their sights on. Back in 2019, a gang of robbers broke into Blenheim Palace and stole a solid gold toilet… Yes, a fully functional, 18-carat, £2.8 million loo. And get this… they pulled it off in just five minutes.

Now, I’m not saying I condone their career choices, but you’ve got to admire the vision. They didn’t just dream small. They didn’t go for a couple of paintings or some fancy silverware. No, they went for the big prize – the golden throne.

And that got me thinking… In business (and in life), we often play it safe. We dream in “manageable” sizes, take small steps, and avoid the risk of going after something really big – just in case it all goes down the drain. But what if we stopped holding back? What if we dared to chase our boldest, most audacious goals – golden-toilet-level dreams?

When I first set out to start Millennium Cargo almost 30 years ago, so many people told me I was crazy. That it was impossible to compete with the big freight boys and I’d end up giving it up and taking a job again. But they were wrong. 

Sure, we’ve had a fair few bumps along the way, but there’s no denying that I achieved my “Golden Toilet Dream” of creating a friendly, family-run freight forwarding company that would stand the test of time. Now, our toilet thieves might not have got away with it (they’re in court now), but the lesson is clear – big risks come with big rewards.
