am i wrong?

I need help. That’s what my wife would tell you anyway.
But all kidding aside, I really do need some help. This past year has been a whirlwind of growth. We’ve made more connections, built relationships with more customers and moved more goods than ever before in my whole 26 years since Millennium was founded.
This is great news! And I’m eternally grateful to each and every one of our customers and my team for making it all possible. But there’s one catch…
I’ve become insanely busy. Busy with the itty bitty, must-do but not really CEO-important tasks. You know the kind? The stuff that has to be done but doesn’t really fit in anyone’s job description so it falls to the business owner. That kind…
Hire a VA. My business buddies said. Get some remote support from someone that can take these tasks off your plate and free you up for the important tasks in the business. Great idea! I thought. There’s tons of virtual assistants out there. Hiring one will be easy!
But I was wrong. The first one I contacted took two weeks to reply to my email. The second one took over a week and the third one didn’t reply at all! Now, I know they’re busy too – but I’d say a critical thing when hiring a VA is going to be speed of communication. What if I need a task completed urgently and it takes two weeks to get a response?
But it’s not just in the virtual assistant world that good communication matters. In the freight industry, speedy replies are essential. If we don’t respond fast, we lose the booking. We understand that when you’re moving goods around the world, you need to get it done FAST. Minutes can matter! That’s why we always reply to quote requests within a maximum of 2 hours – or as close to immediately as we can!
So how about you? Do you think speed of communication matters in today’s world? I’d love to hear your thoughts…
PS – I’ve found a VA now. A buddy of mine kindly offered to share his gem of a virtual assistant and gave her a glowing review… Plus, she replied to my email the very same day…
